KRYPTERIA Signs With ONFIRE/ROADRUNNER
May 22, 2009German-Korean rockers KRYPTERIA will release their album, "My Fatal Kiss", on August 28 via Roadrunner Records' new division Onfire.
Onfire is headed by former G.U.N. Records CEO Wolfgang Funk, who recently joined forces with Roadrunner and Warner, a move that drew quite some attention in the rock and metal world.
The songs:
Drummer S.C. Kuschnerus: "We were able to again turn it up a good notch in terms of the sonic intensity, the overall atmosphere and the emotional depth compared to 'Bloodangel's Cry'. We put all our hearts into the songs on 'My Fatal Kiss'…which I am sure the fans will be able to hear and feel."
The songwriting:
"The new album truly is a group effort, since we were really feeding off each other creatively. Therefore the songs perfectly reflect the band's personalities, ideas and our artistic vision," adds bass guitarist Frank Stumvoll.
The recording:
"We went to great lengths in order to create a rich and entertaining album. We are now able to offer our fans a piece of music we are immensely proud of," says Chris Siemons, the band's guitarist and producer.
The concept:
Singer Ji-In Cho: "Lyrically, 'My Fatal Kiss' is a very personal album. The songs deal with emptiness, desperation, inner demons, the fight between good and evil and really touch on our own struggles. Both the album's artwork and our stage set will follow this theme, too."
The new partners:
Following two albums and one EP, KRYPTERIA's contract with their prior record company had run its course. "We are looking back on four great years with EMI. Dirk Ewald and Philippe Koenig have been particularly wonderful to us not only professionally but from a personal standpoint as well. For their efforts and their friendship we owe them our deepest gratitude," the band emphasizes.
Now, teamed up with Onfire and Roadrunner, the next phase in KRYPTERIA's evolution is being launched. Chris Siemons says: "Wolfgang Funk is just the perfect match for this band. His successful track record with artists such as H.I.M., GUANO APES, WITHIN TEMPTATION and OOMPH! speaks for itself. Wolfgang Funk obviously has his finger on the rock community's pulse. Plus, he really impressed us with the tremendous fire and passion of his. So between Onfire and the world's greatest rock label Roadrunner, we feel that the four of us and our music are in the best of hands."
Wolfgang Funk believes in the female-fronted group's abilities: "KRYPTERIA is an act with enormous potential," he says. "We are excited about the band's faith in us, and armed with their latest and strongest album we plan to unleash a huge firestorm and take KRYPTERIA to the next level."
